Who We Are

Bank for Good began as a coalition of organizations working to make the financial system easier to understand, so people can see where their money goes and choose the kind of impact it creates.

We knew there were banks, credit unions, and community-focused financial institutions investing in affordable housing, small businesses, clean energy, and stronger local economies. We wanted to make it simple for people to find them, compare options, and make informed choices.

Our role is to bring clarity, data and transparency to a part of money that most people never get to see: the flow of deposits into real-world outcomes.

How we stay independent

  • Bank for Good is funded by a philanthropic organization, with support from volunteers.
  • We are not funded by banks, and we have no relationship with any bank.
  • There is no advertising, sponsorship, or paid placement on this site.
  • Environmental responsibility ratings are based on Bank.Green‘s evaluation, which it updates periodically. The rating labels on this site are Bank for Good’s own wording.
